FREE MEDICAL CAMP

AT GURUVAYURAPPAN INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT ON 10th MARCH 2019

Guruvayurappan Institute of Management, Navakkarai, Coimbatore, organized a one-day Free Medical Camp for the public in association with PSG Hospitals, Coimbatore and Ettimadai Panchayat on 10th March 2019 at GIM Premises. The Inaugural Function of the Camp was held at 9.00 am.

The Camp was open to the Public. A large number of persons residing in the vicinity participated in the Camp. “Such Camps provide the students an insight into the relevance of “Corporate Social Responsibility” and its impact in the society. They get to see how the Public seeks help from the Corporates and how the Corporate respond to their needs by stretching out a helping hand. The Students of GIM who have worked hard to arrange the Camp at the Institute would be enriched manifold by their involvement in such a noble cause” said Dr. Thomas T. Thomas, Director, GIM.

Dr. Jayram Kumar,. General Surgery, Dr. Ashwanth, General Medicine, Dr. Raja, Orthopaedics, Dr. Srinithi, Paediatrics, Dr. Saranya, Respiratory, Dr. Abhinaya, Ophthalmology,  lead the Camp. Dr. S. Sujatha, Asso. Professor GIM, welcomed the gathering. Mr. Sundaran Sujeesh,  II MBA student, GIM, proposed the Vote of Thanks.

A team of six doctors and 15 assistants from PSG Hospitals took care of the public. More than 320 people including children, women and senior citizens from in and around Navakkarai, Murugampathy, Chinnampathy, Puthupathy, K. G. Chavadi, Pudhur, Pichanur and Veerappanur took part in the camp and were provided free consultancy and medicines.  The Students and Faculty provided voluntary support for helping the public and ailing seniors who came for the Camp.  The students arranged transportation from the villages in all these Panchayats.  The camp focused on general medicines, Gynecology, Urology, Gastroenterology, Ortho Pediatrics and Obstetrics.

The Medical Camp was a refreshing and highly learning experience for the students of GIM. They have vowed to take up more such socially relevant programmes in the Campus.
